we are cuts

We have had a relationship with the art world since the 80’s when ‘Cuts Gallery’ was situated above our Kensington Church Street salon. We exhibited works by painters, photographers and sculptors throughout our time there.

More recently we were invited to take part cutting hair in Mario Ybarra Jr.’s installation Sweeney Tate at Tate Modern’s group show ‘The World As A Stage.’

In the spring of 2008 we collaborated with The Photographers Gallery on a project called Running Late. This involved giving hundreds of disposable cameras to our clients who went out and took pictures of Soho as they saw it. The result was an amazingly eclectic portrait of the area and its inhabitants.

We were also asked for our shop to be used as one of the locations for the ‘Soho Theatre’ production Soho Streets. A play where the actors roamed Soho, followed by their audience, and performed short pieces depicting life in the area through the decades. WE ARE CUTS was used for a scene depicting an illegal rave in the late 80’s.

We now use the shop at Royalty Mews to host exhibitions from a variety of artist. The shows have been met with great enthusiasm and increasing acclaim, marking YOU LOOK GOOD as one of the hottest galleries in town right now.
